General Renewal Requirement Checklist
-Application

-Non-Criminal Background Check (at least once, as required by law)
-Verification of Experience
-OR-
One year of teaching experience for the immediate previous year
Completion of six hours of college coursework within the previous five years
-Verification of Professional Development
Applicant must provide verification documenting 60 clock hours annually beginning with the 2005-2006 school year.
If you have retired, professional development may be waived by submitting a letter from Arkansas Teacher Retirement verifying your retirement date
Documentation of the required professional development for the renewal of a teaching license shall be provided by a public school superintendent, human resources director, or director of other agency/organization employing licensed teachers.
-$100 licensure renewal fee
-Beginning July 31st, 2009, Act 1173 of 2009, requires all first time applicants for teacher licensure, all currently licensed teachers who are renewing their teaching license for the first time and all teachers who are changing school districts, to clear a child maltreatment central registry check through the Arkansas Department of Human Services.
