January 30, 2020 - Celebrating and Informing our Hornets!
Congratulations, Miles!
From Mr. Wynn . . .
"HUGE CONGRATS to Junior Miles Bowden for making First Chair in All State Honor Band on bass clarinet!!! He's the first Beech Grove student since 1996 to qualify for the All State Band. Not only did he make All State, but he was named into the honor band, which is the top ensemble! Miles is a fantastic kid that is obviously very talented. He plays the tenor and baritone sax in our jazz band, trombone and tuba in our pep band, clarinet in our symphonic band and bass clarinet in our marching band! Miles has an extraordinary ear for music and writes and arranges his own compositions as well."
Wow! We're Hornet Proud!
Coaches vs. Cancer Game is Tomorrow Night!
Plan to attend!
On Friday night Carl Palma and Angela English, who run our Beech Grove Relay for Life team, will be passing around donation buckets during the game to raise money for the Relay for Life team. The Matt English Foundation and the BG Relay for life team will be set up in the lobby, as well as passing out information about their programs. Finally, Larry Williams will have the 2020 Coaches v Cancer t-shirt available for sale at the game. T-Shirts cost $12, and there will be sizes S – XXXL on hand.
Along with countless others, Beech Grove City Schools and the Beech Grove community have felt the devastating effects of cancer. We hope to use events like this to honor those we have lost, celebrate those who have battled and won, and raise awareness for those looking for resources. We hope to have a packed house tomorrow night and we’re looking forward to seeing you there. Boys JV starts at 6:00 pm with varsity to follow.

New Immunization Requirements
From our Nurse Coordinator. . .
Parents: please note the following IMPORTANT information from our nurse coordinator:
Starting with the 2020/2021 school year, ALL students Pre-K-12 will be required to have 2 Hepatitis A vaccines.
The Hepatitis A vaccination requires 2 shots in order to be considered compliant. These 2 shots must be given no sooner than 6 months apart. For example, if someone receives the first Hepatitis A vaccination on February 2nd he/she cannot get the second vaccination until August 2nd or after. Therefore, it is important that you get this series started as soon as possible.
In order to see what vaccinations we have on record for your student, please check in Skyward. Use your Family Access and click on the “Health” tab toward the bottom on the left. Please remember to provide documentation to the school nurse every time that your child receives a vaccination so that we can keep this record up to date. Thank you for helping us keep your student - and all students, safe!

Who is Chihuly?
Dale Chihuly was born in 1941 in Tacoma, Washington. He was introduced to glass while studying interior design at the University of Washington. After graduating in 1965, Chihuly enrolled in the first glass program in the country at the University of Wisconsin. He continued his studies at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where he later established the glass program and taught for more than a decade.
In 1968, after receiving a Fulbright Fellowship, he went to work at the Venini glass factory in Venice. There he observed the team approach to blowing glass, which is critical to the way he works today. In 1971, Chihuly cofounded Pilchuck Glass School in Washington State. With this international glass center, Chihuly has led the avant-garde in the development of glass as a fine art.
His work is included in more than 200 museum collections worldwide. He has been the recipient of many awards, including twelve honorary doctorates and two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts.
