Red Ribbon Week at BGMS

From Mrs. Lux . . .

"During Red Ribbon week, the middle school students decorated their ISucceed classroom doors. Everyone did a wonderful job!! The judges were so excited about the messages the doors conveyed this year that they had a terrible time making a decision. The goal of the competition is to have the students work together on a fun project which has them learning about why they should stay drug free. The judges had lots of input from different people to come to the following top four classroom door winners (listed alphabetically by teacher name)."

Congratulations to:

Mrs. Isaacs

Mr. LaMar

Mrs. Richardson

From Ms. Malinka. . .

Family Night at South Grove Intermediate School

Join the Beech Grove CDFC for Family Night at South Grove Intermediate School for Little Caesars pizza and fun activities. While your kiddos are enjoying the activities and game time, take advantage of our presentation on Youth Substance Misuse and Overdose Prevention (YSMOP). Far too often, we hear of youth who have been curious and experimented with alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs that have led them down the wrong path. Parents who are well educated on youth substance misuse are better informed on how to talk with their children about not getting involved in drugs.

If you haven't attended one of the YSMOP events this year, I encourage you to attend. CDFC partners and presenters, Health Ed Pros does a fabulous job at educating participants about SAMHSA's "Talk. They Hear You." program, and Community Health Network does a fabulous job at educating participants on overdose prevention and Naloxone training (free Naloxone kits are available to participants).

Family Night will take place at South Grove Intermediate School, 851 S 9th Avenue, Beech Grove, IN 46107, Wednesday, November 20th, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Event funded by Drug Free Marion County. RSVP appreciated at bgdrugfree@gmail.com.

Send Us Your Hornet Highlights!

We know there are many, many positive stories about Beech Grove City Schools involving our students, teachers, staff, and programs that we don't always hear. If you have a positive story to share, please send the details to Melody Stevens, Community Relations/Communications Director, at mstevens@bgcs.k12.in.us. We also encourage you to send stories that include personal achievements of your child such as: attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, performing in a community play, earning Girl Scout badges, serving as a volunteer in a non-profit organization, etc., etc. You might just see your story in a future edition of the "Hornet Blast" or in one of our local south side newspapers. We want to celebrate our Hornets!
