7:00 PM                 Meeting was called to order by Board Chair, Dean Livelybrooks at 7:04 PM.  Directors present: Doug Perry, Troy Wilson, Jeff Ramp, and Austin Bloom.  Staff Present: Superintendent, Aaron Brown, Principal, Carla DeShaw, District Service Mgr. Lee Ann Hartwig.  Patrons: Pat McGuire, Tara Wigle, Stephanie Wigle, Chris Leturno, Gary Thompson, Lil Thompson, Kyle Rolnick, and Marissa Cooper.

The Phata Rowe girls group will be coming to clean Applegate Elementary flower beds on April 11, 2014

 

                                    IV              Reports:

 

1.     No student reports at this meeting due to illness.

 

2.     CHS/CMS Principal, Carla DeShaw spoke to the board regarding the Focus Period currently being implemented at the school.  Text book adoption for Language Arts, Solar Panels that are now operational at the school, and the presentation that the students did at Lane ESD.

 

3.     Superintendent, Aaron Brown spoke to the board regarding the current enrollment status, Cool School Energy Audit, Division 22 Standards and Student of the Month at Applegate Elementary.

 

4.     Board Chair, Dean Livelybrooks spoke to the board regarding the STEM grant that was not to be.

 

5.     Rose Wild presented to the board the 90 by 30 program of Lane County and how the CAL district as well as staff and patrons can play a part in eliminating Child abuse by the year 2030.  The Regional Leadership Team Development Plan is currently organizing committees to support and recognize area abuse problems (see attachments) by rural outreach.

Moved by Jeff Ramp, seconded by Troy Wilson, and carried 5-0 to accept the Board Minutes from the February 13, 2014 regular meeting, and the February 2014 Check register.

 

b)     Approval of Maintenance Supervisor-Bryan Wood

 

Moved by Doug Perry, seconded by Austin Bloom and carried 4-0-1 to accept the hiring of Bryan Wood in the position of Non Licensed Building Maintenance Supervisor/Mechanic.  Jeff Ramp obstained

 

c)     Approval of 2014-2015 CAL District Calendar

 

Moved by Troy Wilson, seconded by Austin Bloom and carried 50 to accept the 2014/2015 District Calendar as submitted to the board.

 

d)     Approval of ÒSupport for the Cool Schools processÓ for the CAL School District.

 

Moved by Austin Bloom, seconded by Jeff Ramp and carried 5-0 to continue pursuing the Cool Schools Grant.

 

e)     Approval of the Second reading of Board Policies Section A (Board)

 

Moved by Jeff Ramp, seconded by Doug Perry, and carried 50 to accept the second and final reading of Section A Policies.

j)      Approval of Crow High School Boys Baseball to Co-op with Elmira High School

 

Moved by Jeff Ramp, seconded by Doug Perry and carried 5-0 to accept the Co-Op arrangement with Elmira High School for 2013/2014.

 

 

k)     Approval of Softball Coach for 2013/2014

 

Moved by Jeff Ramp, seconded by Austin Bloom, and carried 5-0 to accept the hiring of Steve Wickwire as

Head Varsity Softball Coach for 2013/2014.

 

VI              Information Items:

 

á       Calendar Adjustment due to increment weather this winter (see attachment)

á       Jeff Ramp complemented the Basketball teams for their continued improvement throughout the season.  It was also noted we had 3 students make it to State Wrestling.
