Technology Loan Policy

Introduction

This Technology Loan Agreement outlines the guidelines that all users are expected to follow when taking responsibility for any device and accessories loaned to them for their use.  Parents/guardians are required to accept the provisions of this agreement prior to the issuance of district technology.

Usage Policies

There is no expectation of privacy in the use of district technology. The technology is property of Oxford Public Schools USD 358, and, as such, are subject to physical inspection and editing at any time by a student’s teacher or by administrative staff.

Oxford Public Schools USD 358 will not be responsible, financially or otherwise, for damage occurring during or resulting from the User’s possession or use of the district technology including, but not limited to, any claim for copyright infringement or for unauthorized transactions conducted over the internet. 

Damage, Theft or Loss

The User agrees to handle the technology carefully and protect it from potential sources of damage.

An annual non-refundable insurance premium is to be paid to Oxford Public Schools USD 358 prior to a Student being issued a device.  This premium is included in the curriculum & instructional fee.

If during the loan period, the technology is damaged, Oxford Public Schools USD 358 may charge the User the lesser of the repair or a deductible of up to $100.00

per occurrence of accidental damage.  User must pay the deductible prior to receiving a repaired or loaner technology, unless other arrangements are made.

If the technology is stolen or vandalized, Oxford Public Schools USD 358 may charge the User the deductible of $100.00.  The school’s insurance will cover the remaining cost of replacement, providing that a police report is filed on the incident within 36 hours.  Oxford Public Schools USD 358 may charge the User the full replacement cost(s) if the user fails to file a police report on the stolen equipment within 36 hours of the incident.

In case of loss, the User will be charged the full replacement cost(s) of the technology.

The User will be charged the actual replacement cost(s) of lost, stolen or damaged accessories that are loaned with the technology.  Returned accessories must be the original accessory issued.  We only loan chargers that match the brand and are the appropriate type for the main device.  Third party chargers and accessories will not be accepted as a substitute.

The User understands if they are found to be the cause of deliberate damage of any technology and accessories owned by Oxford Public Schools USD 358 the User will be responsible for any and all repair or replacement cost(s).

Internet Use & Stored Content

Internet access will be restricted in compliance with CIPA regulations and school policies. Web browsing may be monitored and web activity records may be retained indefinitely.

It is the parents’ responsibility to establish a technology use policy at home.  While Oxford Public Schools USD 358 employs filtering and other safety and security mechanisms, and attempts to ensure their proper function, it makes no guarantees as to their effectiveness. 

Inappropriate images, videos, text, music, or audio files are not to be viewed or stored on the technology.

Technology and accessories are the property of Oxford Public Schools USD 358 and are loaned to the User for educational purposes only during the current academic school year.

I have read and agree to abide by all Oxford Public Schools USD 358 policies and regulations for the use of Policy. I understand and agree my child will abide by these terms and conditions and will discuss them with my child. I accept responsibility for damage or loss of the technology and accessories and am subject to actual replacement or repair cost(s) of the technology and accessories if I fail to return the technology and accessories in it’s original condition (excluding ordinary wear and tear) by the end of the current academic school year.
